For school-aged children we may continue to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy services through their school-based team. Our staff work closely with parents, teaching assistants, and teachers to help each child function to the best of their abilities within their classroom setting.

The BC Centre for Responsive Feeding prioritizes the feeding relationship of caregivers and children. Responsive Feeding Therapy (RFT) is flexible, prioritizes the feeding relationship, and respects and develops autonomy. RFT is based on what works with happy, self-directed eaters who enjoy eating, are confident in their eating skills and are internally motivated to eat enough. RFT is guided by a sensitive reading of a child’s cues and celebrates mealtimes and a love of food. The child will always have autonomy, and within that autonomy they can find the curiosity and confidence to try new food experiences.

Adapted yoga offers a safe, calm environment for people with physical disabilities to practice meditative breathing and movement.

Social workers provide services to adults & families one-on-one, as well as within group or community activities & programs.

Crossreach is open for clients from Monday to Friday each week. A typical day at Crossreach includes a morning snack, exercises and music, a healthy hot lunch, crafts and games, bus outings, and other activities designed to entertain, stimulate and engage our seniors.
To supplement the funds received from the Health Authority, we charge a small daily fee to our clients to cover part of the costs of the meals and activities. We also raise funds from donations, legacies, memberships, and rentals of our premises.

Community Living of BC (CLBC) Adult services provide one on one support to adults with developmental disabilities. Each contract specifically determines the hours and goals of each client. Goals and activities often include life skills, recreation, and volunteer and/or paid supported employment. The program runs out of the Kitimat Community Development Centre and also includes integration into community activities.

Assessment and diagnosis helps prevent behavioural labels. It develops a more appropriate (and accurate) understanding of the individual, their strengths and needs.

The Adult Learning Program supports adults with suspected or diagnosed learning differences in reaching their education or workplace goals.

The program takes a unique approach to providing explicit instruction (literacy and math) and support (education, workplace).

Adult Life Skills Program, this service is for adults aged 19 and over who have disabilities and are interested in continuing to learn life skills.

Adult Day Program for adults that includes life skills, community access, volunteering, recreation and leisure at multiple sites in their communities.

RMACL offers adult residential services in Supported living, Home Sharing, Group Homes, and Subsidized housing.

The Association operates three residential services, each with unique characteristics but having in common a caring, supportive environment to help people achieve their optimal level of independence.

Respite services provide families with a temporary break from the day to day responsibilities of caring for their son or daughter with a developmental disability.

The Adult Respite Program provides parents and other family members with a break from the demands of providing continuous care to a family member (19 years of age and older) who has a disability.

Most of the services in this program area are designed for individuals with identified Diverse Abilities, over the age of 19, who desire supports to help them achieve greater success through adulthood.

Adult Special Education (ASE) programs offered at B.C. public post-secondary institutions are available to students with permanent disabilities or a combination of learning difficulties that hinder scholastic success.

Adult Services supports adults with developmental disabilities as well as their families in Vancouver and Richmond.

AgedOut.com is for young adults who were in government care in BC. It's an up-to-date warehouse of information on resources and services available to young adults and a learning tool to help people feel empowered as they leave care.

We partnered with Interwoven Connections and their network of clinicians and families with lived expertise to develop this resource to provide support and validation to families who are experiencing aggression in their homes. This resource will guide families toward strategies and resources to support parents and caregivers, the child or youth exhibiting aggressive behaviours, and siblings or other family members in the home who may be impacted.

Recipients of income assistance, disability assistance and hardship assistance, and who are residents of alcohol and drug residential treatment facilities licensed or registered by the Ministry of Health (MoH) may be eligible for the standard user fee and a comforts allowance.

The Alcohol and Drug Counselor provides one-on-one, group, and family support to individuals who are or have been involved with substance abuse, including educational, activity-based, and counseling services. Assistance is geared towards respecting individual needs and providing timely, appropriate, and effective supports to address these. Where necessary, the Alcohol and Drug Counselor also develops treatment plans and undertakes referrals.

QCLA's Apartment Complex is located above our main office in West Quesnel. The people who live at the Apartments have varying levels of support twenty four hours per day. The location of the home allows these residents to fully participate in their community. Individuals can easily walk downtown to participate in banking, shopping and recreation. Staff assist the residents of the Apartments to learn to do all daily life skills as independently as possible. The Apartment Complex also has an elevator for accessibilty.

Kindale provides Community Living and Day Options to adults of all ages – from youth to seniors – and at all levels of functioning. These day programs make an immense difference in the lives of people with developmental and other disabilities. They provide opportunities for skill enhancement, recreation, socialization and community inclusion that significantly enhance self esteem and quality of life.

Kinsight (the SFSCL) offers adult programs in community inclusion and employment.

BACI offers Community Inclusion services that support adults in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, to access and participate in a range of events and activities within their local communities.
